Mount Pinatubo

Prepare yourself for an unforgettable adventure as you travel to Mount Pinatubo.

Here’s what you can expect during your journey:

1. Travel light and avoid bringing unnecessary luggage. Pack only the essentials for your trip.

2. Remember to bring enough cash with you, as there are no ATMs in the area. You’ll need it to settle your remaining balance and for any additional expenses.

3. Breakfast and lunch options are available at the parking/registration area, so you can grab a bite before starting your adventure.

4. The jump-off point is approximately a 50-minute drive from HELP Academy. To make the journey more comfortable, bring a neck pillow for the ride.

5. Registration will begin at 5:00 am. A tour coordinator will assist you with the registration process, signing waivers, and acquiring guides and 4×4 jeeps. Please note that on weekends, there may be a long queue due to the high volume of trekkers. Patience will be key.

6. The 4×4 jeeps provided by the tourism office are randomly assigned. Some jeeps are open, while others are closed units.

7. Each 4×4 jeep can accommodate a maximum of 4 guests and 1 tour guide. There’s a possibility that you may be grouped with other guests to form a group of 4 in a jeep.

8. If needed, trekking sticks (tungkod) are available for rent at the registration area for only P50. They can be useful along the trail.

9. Expect a dusty trail due to lahar. It’s advisable to bring a malong or scarf to cover your face and head. Don’t forget to bring sun protection such as a cap, sleeves, and sunblock.

10. The entire adventure will take approximately 5-6 hours:

   – A 20-kilometer 4×4 ride to Botolan, Zambales Junction.

   – A 7-kilometer trek to the Crater’s view deck.

  – The same route back to the parking area.

11. Consider bringing candies or small items to give to Aeta kids whom you may encounter along the trail.

12. If you have extra clothes or items that are not necessary for the hike, you can leave them securely inside the van.

13. Shower facilities are available at the parking area after the hike. There is a fee of P50 for the use of the shower.

14. As this is a joiners tour, there may be idle time while waiting for other participants to finish their activities. Use this time to relax, enjoy the surroundings, or interact with fellow travelers.

15. Please note that mobile signal is available for Smart users only.
